Antcolonygames Magazine Issue #1 app for iPhone and iPad

This is the premier issue of Antcolonygames Magazine, the digital magazine with the game inside. The magazine is about experiencing history, through the use of animated maps and playable simulations.

Each issue will focus on a specific historical event or period. This issue looks at the encirclement battles that took place in the Russian Baltic region in June of 1941.

This issues game is Blitzkrieg Battles: Riga. In the game you play the German side against the Russian Artificial Intelligence (AI). Your goal is to establish bridgeheads across the Dvina River between Riga and Daugavpils, and to hold those bridgeheads against the inevitable counter attack.

Playing the game will give you a better understanding of the events that unfolded in Russia those seven days in June (22nd - 29th). The capabilities of the opposing forces have been quantified, so you can study their strengths and weaknesses. You can see how the terrain had an impact on the course of the battle. You can explore different tactics and strategies. You can experience the history.
